Background Information
Somali Environmental & Community Development Organization (SECDO) is a non-governmental and non-political non-governmental organization dedicated to integrated community development through Community Motivation.
The organization was founded 01theAugust 2022 at Jowhar by a group of professionals and operates in close partnership with local communities in the areas of needs identified by the communities themselves.
Our Vision
We Must Strengthen the Best Way for the Community to Get Free Education Health Services and Rescue for Vulnerable People and Assessing Climate Change in Somalia.
Our Mission
It works to strengthen the community and develop the Somali environment through the promotion of peace, the rights of vulnerable people, capacity building, information sharing and biodiversity.
Our Goal
Our goal is to lay the groundwork for a civil rights movement that is recognized internally and externally and is capable of advocating for vulnerable social issues.
Objectives of SECDO
Strengthening Communities of Life and Peace, Socially and Economically by:
- Promoting women and children’s rights in order to lay down the foundation of mother and child right movement.
- Focusing and mobilizing women income generating programmers.
- Building the Communities
- Establishing net work with local and international agencies with similar target for development of women and children.
- Conducting researches and trainings on women Issues.
- Awareness rising on the Transmission, prevention of HIV/Aids through peer education and forums.
- To Enhance environment for peace and conflict transformation through conflict prevention, mitigation and response to contribute ultimately to a more just and peaceful development in the country.

Responsibilities of the Board of Directors within the organization
- Keeps the organization’s mission, values, and vision out front.
- Long range planning for the organization.
- Monitors fiscal management and maintains accountability to fenders and donors.
- Review and approves the annual budget, major program plans, and organizational policies.
- Ensure the adequate resources are available to the organization.
- Evaluates the organizational effectiveness.
- Hires and evaluates the executive director.
- Represents public need and interest within the organization.
- Represents the organization to the public, especially to sources of financial support.
SECDO has an obligation to address the huge demands of and takes part in the prevention of rampant causes of Communities right abuses in Somalia.
These regions have undergone serve social problems including Civil wars, internal displacements and lack of Social services of which they commonly shared with the rest of the country.
SECDO addresses policies that address the root cause of human right violence literacy and deforestation which jeopardizes the future of these regions and wasteful the potential thousands of people SECDO is guided by a set of principles and shared values.

Communities Rights promotion.
Meant to address the women rights education from different prospective SECDO –established a documentation center that performs several activates such as the documentation of Human rights abuse afflicted to women and children and affected relatives.
It is also undertake campaigns intended to sensitize the public on the existence of human rights abuse and makes advocacy on FGM abandonment and HIV/Aids prevention.
CAPACITY BUILDING:
SECDO: extends capacity building programs to its member organization, local net works and authorities and the general public through different channels of educational approaches (forums, Trainings, meeting, visit exchanges, seminars, media debates and publications).

Main Activities:
SECDO – Somalia has the mandate to work in the fields of Human Rights Protection, Food Security, WASH, Nutrition, Agriculture and Livelihoods, Health and Education as a member of all those Clusters.
SECDO Structure
SECDO is composed of one organ that is General Assembly, the Board of Directors and Chairman.
The BOD, who consists of 5 persons, is the highest governing body while chairman has the highest authority.
The structure of the organization can be amended and improved SECDO to the organizational operations.

Organizational Track Record and Experience
- SECDO has been assisting the community in some villages along the Shabelle River, especially in (Mahaday and Jowhar) districts such as (Burfulle) and we have delivered food aid consisting of rice, oil and pasta, with no one to support us.
