Public awareness messages were broadcast through local radio stations, Radio Asal and Radio Heals, reaching listeners across Jowhar town. Additionally, educational stickers featuring clear illustrations and practical guidance were distributed to community members, emphasizing the prevention of communicable and waterborne diseases.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative focused on preventing illnesses such as acute watery diarrhea, cholera, and malaria, particularly during the river flood season when poor sanitation and water contamination increase the risk of outbreaks. Children received special attention, as stagnant and contaminated water poses a significant health threat in vulnerable communities.<\/p>\n<p>SECDO\u2019s awareness activities reached communities in Jowhar and Mahaday districts, as well as nearby villages regularly affected by flooding, including Buurfuule, Xudur-Ciise, Shaan, and other settlements where access to reliable health information is limited.<\/p>\n<p>Through this campaign, SECDO aims to reduce the incidence of preventable diseases, strengthen community resilience, and enhance preparedness for climate-induced health risks.
